Building Envelope Engineer / Designer (Building Science)

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; office and construction-site work required

What you will do

• Design building envelope systems and assemblies for new construction, renovation, restoration, and rehabilitation projects.
• Work with exterior walls, cladding, roofing, windows, doors, curtain walls, waterproofing, air and vapour barriers, insulation, and thermal protection.
• Conduct building condition assessments, field investigations, site inspections, and construction observations.
• Investigate water infiltration, moisture, condensation, thermal bridging, and other envelope deficiencies.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, technical reports, construction details, repair recommendations, and contractor documentation reviews.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, owners, and consultants; provide technical support, client recommendations, project planning assistance, and mentorship to junior staff.

Requirements

• Degree, diploma, or technical education in Civil Engineering, Building Science, Architectural Engineering, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in building envelope, building science, restoration, construction, or consulting.
• Practical understanding of building enclosure systems, construction methods, and heat, air, and moisture movement.
• Experience with building envelope assessments, investigations, design, rehabilitation, technical reports, specifications, or construction details.
• Ability to interpret architectural and construction drawings, with strong communication, technical writing, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Canadian building codes and relevant industry standards; ability to work in both the office and on construction sites.

Nice to have

• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• P.Eng., EIT, or eligibility for professional registration.
• Experience mentoring junior staff or taking technical and project leadership responsibility.
