TL;DR
Metallurgical Development & Research Senior Engineer (Metallurgy/Materials Science): Developing metallurgical products and investigating material failures across a wide range of components with an accent on materials analysis, testing, manufacturing support, and technical reporting. Focus on designing metallurgical testing plans, identifying root causes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials, supporting casting and heat treatment processes, and providing recommendations to product and supplier engineering teams.

Location: Onsite five days a week in Mossville, Illinois, United States. Domestic relocation is available. Travel is less than 10%.

Salary: $112,710–$169,060 per year

What you will do

  • Lead material and material failure analysis investigations.
  • Develop metallurgical testing plans and analyze test results.
  • Create technical reports, procedures, and recommendations for internal customers.
  • Communicate findings to internal customers and support product design and supplier development engineers.
  • Provide technical support to metallurgical laboratory operations.
  • Support deviation requests, assurance-of-supply initiatives, and manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Strong analytical thinking, decision-making, critical thinking, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of product testing, manufacturing standards, procedures, and policies.
  • Project management and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite five days a week in Mossville, Illinois.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Failure analysis experience with ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Experience with component design, manufacturing operations, foundry and casting processes, or heat treatment.
  • Experience creating technical reports, publications, or procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with strong collaboration and organizational skills.
