Virtual Incision develops miniature robotic-assisted surgery platforms designed to expand access to robotic surgery and improve patient outcomes.

What you will do

• Design and develop hardware for robotic-assisted surgery systems, instruments, scissors, graspers, and specialty tools.
• Own mechanical product development from concept and prototyping through manufacturing.
• Define, analyze, and allocate system hardware requirements while evaluating design alternatives and failure modes.
• Write verification protocols and conduct integration, verification, clinical, and benchtop testing.
• Develop Design History File deliverables and participate in risk analysis, technical reviews, and design improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with electrical and software engineers, scientists, surgeons, vendors, and other subject-matter experts.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
• 5–10+ years of product design experience, including ownership from concept to production.
• Experience with mechanical design and CAD software; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, design, execution, and project ownership skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate with experts outside engineering.
• Ability to develop prototypes, explore open-ended concepts, and solve highly constrained design problems.

Nice to have

• Medical-device or other regulated-industry experience.
• Knowledge of FDA Quality System and design processes.
• Robotics engineering experience.
• Programming experience with MATLAB, scripting languages, or other programming techniques.
• Plastic molding design experience.
