Senior Director, Personal Systems Strategy and Planning (AI)

Location: Palo Alto, California, United States of America

Salary: $190,950–$305,550 USD annually, with additional bonus and/or equity opportunities; the stated pay range applies to candidates in the United States.

What you will do

• Lead strategic thought leadership and long-range research on technology disruption, competitive shifts, emerging business models, and growth opportunities.
• Shape the Personal Systems AI strategy, including the migration of inference from the cloud to edge and on-device environments.
• Translate strategic insights into portfolio priorities, product decisions, resource allocation, investment focus, and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Prepare executive narratives and decision materials for Board, executive leadership, Investor Day, and other internal and external forums.
• Build scalable strategy frameworks, learning experiences, change-management approaches, workshops, and AI-enabled decision-support resources.
• Lead competitive intelligence and stakeholder advisory work while developing the strategy and competitive intelligence teams.

Requirements

• 15+ years of related professional or leadership experience, preferably in management consulting, corporate strategy, business planning, or market intelligence.
• Experience advising senior executives and leading complex cross-functional initiatives in global, matrixed technology organizations.
• Strong strategic judgment, commercial instinct, executive communication, and strategic storytelling skills.
• Experience with AI, PCs, devices, software, services, productivity tools, platforms, or ecosystem strategy.
• Ability to build repeatable strategy assets, governance, operating rhythms, organizational capabilities, and AI-enabled tools.
• Four-year or graduate degree in business administration, finance, economics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience engaging venture capital firms, startups, AI funds, incubators, or strategic partners.
• Experience framing AI experience opportunities, defining proof-of-concept success criteria, interpreting adoption signals, and influencing product roadmaps.
