Senior Software Engineer (Multi-Asset Technology, AI)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland; hybrid work with up to three days per week from home. Applicants for employment in the United States must already have work authorization that will not require current or future visa sponsorship.

Salary: $121,000–$206,000 annually for Maryland, Colorado, Washington, and remote workers. Other listed ranges are $133,000–$227,000 for Washington, D.C., and $151,000–$258,000 for New York and California.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable applications for multi-asset investment workflows.
• Translate business needs from product owners and investment professionals into maintainable technical solutions.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, engineering standards, and secure software practices.
• Build AI-enabled applications, intelligent workflows, and agentic systems using modern LLMs and AI frameworks.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, identify root causes, and improve system reliability and performance.
• Mentor engineers and promote effective engineering practices across the team.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and supporting production applications.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or JavaScript and experience with Pandas, React, Node.js, and Spring Boot.
• Experience with cloud technologies, containerization, serverless architectures, DevOps, automated testing, TDD, BDD, Cucumber, or Cypress.
• Experience with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or Redshift.
• Hands-on experience building AI-enabled applications or intelligent workflows with modern LLMs and AI development frameworks.

Nice to have

• Experience with data visualization, algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and scalable application design.
• Knowledge of statistics, time-series analysis, asset pricing, optimization, multi-asset strategies, derivatives, or capital markets.
• Experience with agent orchestration, tool calling, retrieval-based systems, prompt engineering, evaluation, observability, or guardrails.
• Experience partnering with portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, traders, or other front-office clients.
