Backend Engineer (LiveOps)

Location: Seattle, WA; hybrid

Salary: $142K–$265K annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Own and scale the backend platform supporting real-time public safety drone services.
• Build and manage live operational infrastructure for telemetry, video distribution, remote control links, and system uptime.
• Develop platform infrastructure, tooling, and cloud-based services.
• Ensure backend systems are secure, reliable, and performant.
• Prototype solutions for customers and internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate with hardware and autonomy teams to stream and display live drone data in multiple formats.

Requirements

• Degree in computer science or a related field and 5+ years of experience shipping high-quality code and building robust infrastructure.
• Experience building backend platforms from infrastructure through the API layer.
• Experience with modern cloud infrastructure such as AWS or GCP, including Cloud DevOps responsibilities.
• Familiarity with serverless architecture and the performance-versus-cost tradeoffs of operating systems at scale.
• Demonstrated experience designing cloud architectures for scale, performance, and security.
• Experience with real-time systems or embedded software, plus familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
