Senior Payroll Transformation Specialist (AI & Automation)

What you will do

• Own end-to-end in-house payroll processing for Malaysia, including statutory contributions, tax reporting, reconciliations, and compliance.
• Manage outsourced payroll vendors across APAC, reviewing payroll inputs, outputs, statutory calculations, service levels, and escalations.
• Lead payroll-related SOX, statutory, internal, and external audit activities, including evidence preparation and remediation tracking.
• Identify process risks and inefficiencies and lead automation and AI transformation initiatives using RPA, intelligent document processing, anomaly detection, chatbots, and predictive analytics.
• Partner with HR, Finance, IT, vendors, and regional stakeholders on payroll workflows, HRIS integrations, reporting, budgeting, and transformation projects.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of regional payroll experience, preferably in a multi-country environment.
• Hands-on Malaysia payroll experience, including EPF, SOCSO, EIS, and PCB/MTD.
• Experience managing outsourced payroll vendors across multiple jurisdictions and knowledge of APAC payroll regulations.
• Experience with SOX, statutory, internal, or external audits and a solid understanding of internal controls.
• Proficiency in Timesoft payroll system, preferably Workday HRIS, and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, process-mapping, stakeholder-management, organizational, and confidentiality-handling skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in payroll process improvement, automation, or AI-enabled transformation projects.
• Exposure to UiPath, Power Automate, Workday AI/ML, generative AI, machine-learning analytics, or other payroll automation platforms.
• Experience supporting system implementations, upgrades, vendor transitions, or cross-functional HR and Finance transformation projects.
