Software Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Rosslyn, Virginia, United States; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the office

Annual base pay: $148,500–$303,500 USD

What you will do

• Lead and develop a team of software engineers through coaching, feedback, career support, recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding.
• Translate product priorities and long-term goals into clear technical plans, priorities, and delivery milestones.
• Guide architecture, design, implementation, testing, operational readiness, and technical tradeoffs across the team’s systems.
• Own execution, remove blockers, resolve ambiguity, and coordinate dependencies with Product Engineering and other partners.
• Lead production incident response and drive meaningful follow-up and continuous improvement.
• Promote responsible use of AI-assisted development tools across design, implementation, testing, debugging, and code review.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent college-level education.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience and 2+ years leading a team of at least three software engineers.
• Experience coaching engineers, translating business priorities into technical plans, and driving successful delivery.
• Strong foundation in software architecture, design, data structures, algorithms, and technical judgment.
• Fluency in Java, Go, C++, Python, or a similar programming language; development is primarily in Java and Go.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools, including evaluating output and protecting data privacy, intellectual property, security, and confidential information.
