Senior Software Engineer (HTML5/Game Ads)

Location: Toronto, Canada

Salary: $96,400–$130,000 per year at the start of employment, with potential bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Build playable ads and interactive creative units from approved storyboards, assets, and briefs.
• Implement gameplay mechanics, interactions, transitions, animations, and user-experience elements.
• Integrate creative assets and ensure consistent behavior across supported environments.
• Optimize performance, responsiveness, file size, rendering, and reliability.
• Implement tracking, analytics, and event instrumentation for creative performance measurement.
• Own projects from technical kickoff through production delivery, including self-QA and workflow improvements.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software development experience and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience with front-end architecture and web performance optimization.
• Expertise in modern JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and the HTML5 Canvas API.
• Strong experience with 2D HTML5 game frameworks such as Phaser or CreateJS, plus 2D/3D frameworks such as PixiJS and Three.js.
• Knowledge of coordinate systems, geometry, vector math, pixel-level manipulation, render loops, frame rates, animations, and requestAnimationFrame.
• Experience with responsive web design, asset-loading pipelines, caching, spritesheets, audio sprites, and JSON data.

Nice to have

• Experience with Photoshop.
• Confidence communicating with senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
