Senior Software Engineer (SDET, Python)

Location: Carlsbad, California; site-based work with employees working at least 3 days or 60% per week from a hirify.global office or work location. A valid work permit or visa is required for the country where the employee will be located and working.

Salary: $165,000–$260,500 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $205,000–$307,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design and maintain scalable test and validation platforms for media server software running on Linux and virtualized environments.
• Build production-quality Python frameworks, libraries, services, automation, and reusable testing solutions.
• Own CI/CD infrastructure, automated validation workflows, and engineering productivity tools across multiple labs and product generations.
• Improve observability, metrics, reporting, dashboards, Shift Left practices, and software release confidence.
• Lead investigations into failures across software, infrastructure, networking, and automation systems while mentoring engineers and contributing to technical decisions.
• Design Agentic AI solutions with the Data & AI team for test orchestration, debugging, root cause analysis, and operational workflows.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, SDET, developer productivity engineering, automation engineering, or related technical roles.
• Strong Python development experience building reusable frameworks, services, libraries, and automation platforms.
• Experience scaling automation for large, complex systems and designing or operating CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Strong Linux expertise, including configuration, debugging, automation, and scripting.
• Networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/S, DNS, DHCP, multicast, REST APIs, and distributed systems.
• Must work from the designated site or office location and hold a valid work permit or visa for the country of employment.

Nice to have

• Experience with virtualized or cloud-based test environments and internal developer productivity platforms.
• Experience applying AI, ML, or Agentic AI to software development, testing, or operational workflows.
• Experience in telecommunications, networking, satellite communications, aviation, or in-flight connectivity.
• Mentoring experience, technical leadership, or a relevant bachelor's degree.
