TL;DR
Project Manager II (Defense) (Supply Chain/Program Support): Coordinating program tasks, schedules, materials, and supplier activities for defense programs with an accent on delivery tracking, inventory control, and compliance with ITAR and DFARS requirements. Focus on expediting critical materials, resolving supply-chain bottlenecks, and maintaining visibility across engineering, procurement, logistics, and program leadership.

Location: Washington, DC, United States — Naval Research Laboratory; primarily office- and program-based with potential warehouse, shop-floor, vendor, and material-handling activities.

Salary: $90,000–$127,000 per year, depending on experience and location; eligible for an annual performance bonus and possible equity or incentive compensation.

What you will do

  • Track assigned tasks, action items, milestones, deliverables, schedules, status reports, and program risks.
  • Coordinate priorities and timelines across program management, engineering, procurement, logistics, and project control.
  • Expedite materials, parts, and equipment by monitoring open orders, vendor issues, availability, and recovery plans.
  • Support receiving, incoming inspection coordination, inventory accuracy, material movement, and delivery-log maintenance.
  • Maintain program documentation and reporting while identifying process improvements and escalating critical delays.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, security, ITAR, DFARS, and other applicable defense-contracting requirements.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required; Secret-level clearance may be required depending on program needs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, project management, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, inventory control, production support, or task/project coordination.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experience with ERP, MRP, or inventory management systems.
  • Strong organization, communication, problem-solving, prioritization, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting DoD, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or government-contracting programs.
  • Knowledge of ITAR, DFARS, FAR, bills of materials, technical drawings, AS9100, production schedules, or supply-chain risk mitigation.
  • Experience with material kitting, receiving, warehouse operations, PMP, CAPM, or supply-chain certifications.
