Associate Scientist I (SST) (Part-Time)

What you will do

• Perform seed evaluation tests, sample analysis, and TZ tests according to work instructions and applicable AOSA, Canada, or ISTA rules.
• Document accurate and repeatable results while meeting daily testing deadlines and quality standards.
• Direct sample flow, follow laboratory procedures, and support efficient execution of assigned processes.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, inventory, and general work areas.
• Identify and communicate sample issues, inventory needs, process improvements, and opportunities to improve quality and customer satisfaction.
• Assist and guide newer staff and help the laboratory manager maintain daily workflow and productivity.

Requirements

• High school degree recommended, with an aptitude for science.
• Certification by the Society of Commercial Seed Technologists recommended.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
• Attention to detail, ability to maintain focus, and ability to work under pressure to meet testing deadlines.
• Computer operation skills, including email and LIMS, plus basic mental addition and subtraction.
• Self-motivation, prioritization skills, reliability, and willingness to learn.

Culture & Benefits

• Part-time schedule with standard business hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; weekend and early morning or late evening work may be available.
• Additional work of at least 45 hours per week may be requested, but is not required, from October through March.
• Work may require sitting or standing for up to eight hours.
