Manager, Accounts Payable

Location: Hybrid role based out of the hirify.global Midtown Manhattan office, with at least three in-person days per week and travel to campuses across the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan.

Salary: $80,340–$100,940 per year.

What you will do

• Lead the full-cycle accounts payable process, including invoices, approvals, payment runs, reimbursements, and vendor maintenance.
• Monitor aging balances, resolve payment discrepancies, and respond to vendor and stakeholder inquiries.
• Maintain financial controls and support GAAP compliance, grant requirements, audits, reconciliations, and 1099 reporting.
• Improve purchasing, procurement, payment, and accounts payable workflows and support financial system implementations and upgrades.
• Prepare reports, dashboards, operational metrics, payment forecasts, and spending trend analyses for Finance leadership.
• Develop cross-training plans and foster a collaborative, customer-service-oriented accounts payable team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least five years of progressive accounts payable or accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounts payable operations, accounting principles, internal controls, and financial best practices.
• Experience with ERP systems, electronic invoice processing, and financial workflow management.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and financial reporting tools.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail.

Nice to have

• Experience in nonprofit, education, charter school, or public-sector finance.
• Knowledge of grant-funded accounting and 1099 reporting requirements.
• Experience leading process improvements, system implementations, or operational change initiatives.
