Lab Manager (Construction Materials Testing)

What you will do

• Set up and manage daily operations for a new geotechnical and construction materials testing laboratory.
• Supervise staff and oversee soil, concrete, and asphalt testing, including procedures, instrumentation, data acquisition, analysis, and cleanup.
• Prepare, review, and issue laboratory testing reports and results for public and private clients.
• Plan workloads, identify workflow bottlenecks, track laboratory KPIs and billing information, and improve operational productivity.
• Maintain equipment through calibration, maintenance, upgrades, procurement, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Oversee laboratory quality, safety, inventory, documentation, specimen and chemical handling, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• BA/BS in a related discipline preferred; a BS in civil engineering is preferred, or equivalent experience.
• 5–10 years of experience leading and motivating a laboratory or technical group.
• Experience with process-driven operations and people management.
• Experience in soil and rock laboratory work is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Excel and Word, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• ACI and FDOT/CTQP certifications must be obtained within one year of starting if not already held.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
