Field Engineer (Heavy Civil Infrastructure)

Salary: $85,000–$150,000 per year ($41–$72 per hour)

What you will do

• Monitor construction activities against approved plans, specifications, permits, and field conditions.
• Maintain daily reports, quantity records, photographs, site-condition logs, delay records, and directives.
• Verify installed quantities, pay items, submittals, shop drawings, materials, and progress payment applications.
• Coordinate requests for information among contractors, designers of record, and program teams through resolution.
• Witness materials sampling and acceptance testing for concrete, asphalt, and earthwork, and document nonconforming work.
• Track schedule risks, changed work, differing site conditions, claims documentation, punch lists, as-built records, and turnover.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, construction management, structural engineering, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of field engineering or construction management experience on large, complex heavy-civil infrastructure projects valued above $500 million.
• Working knowledge of construction plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, construction materials testing, acceptance procedures, and quality assurance documentation.
• Experience maintaining construction field records and using construction document-control or field-documentation software such as Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Acrobat, Procore, e-Builder, or Aconex.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or Office 365.
• Strong communication, organization, multitasking, collaboration, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or active credentials such as EIT, PE, CCM, or ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I.
• Experience in an owner’s field office or on programs exceeding $100 million or $1 billion in construction value.
• Experience documenting differing site conditions, changed work, delays, and claims.
• Experience with active rail, airfield, water, or wastewater facilities and restricted work windows.
• Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Power BI, or Oracle Cloud Analytics.
