Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician (Entry Level - Experienced)

Location: Kansas City, Kansas; field work in Lenexa, Kansas

Salary: $39,600–$59,400 per year; hourly pay is commensurate with experience and CMT certifications.

What you will do

• Perform field density tests of soils.
• Conduct concrete testing, including slump, air content, and strength tests.
• Sample and test soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
• Prepare daily field reports and document test results.
• Work with project managers and senior technicians to ensure construction specifications are followed.
• Assist with complex testing tasks as skills and certifications develop.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for the last three years.
• Ability to lift 50–75+ pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong safety focus, attention to detail, and ability to learn and apply technical concepts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility to work extended or nontraditional hours when required.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in materials testing or construction.
• Existing CMT certifications qualifying the candidate for higher-level CMT pay bands.
