Payroll Specialist

Salary: $60,000–$90,000 per year

What you will do

• Process accurate, timely, and compliant payroll transactions according to payroll calendars and deadlines.
• Maintain employee payroll records, load and validate files, and resolve data-related issues.
• Reconcile payroll before transmission, validate reports, investigate discrepancies, and escalate issues with recommended solutions.
• Process garnishments, manual checks, ACH rejections, commission payments, tax jurisdiction setup, and year-end W-2 and W-2c reporting.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
• Partner with HR, Commissions, Accounting, and other stakeholders to improve payroll controls, documentation, and efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• 2–4 years of payroll experience, preferably in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, functions, pivot tables, reconciliations, and data validation.
• Working knowledge of payroll accounting concepts, payroll controls, reconciliations, manual checks, ACH rejections, and tax-related setup.
• Experience with payroll systems such as Vantage and ADP.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, meet recurring deadlines, analyze issues, and work effectively with minimal supervision.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-state payroll, complex payroll cycles, or high-volume payroll environments.
• Exposure to international payroll, global payroll coordination, or payroll vendor management.
• Fundamental Payroll Certification, Certified Payroll Professional, or a similar certification.
