Hardware Engineering Manager (Quantum Computing)

Location: Boulder, Colorado, United States; on-site

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 annually, plus annual bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor hardware engineers responsible for PCB design, bring-up, and testing of quantum control system instruments.
• Manage relationships with PCB fabrication and contract assembly vendors, including quotations, lead times, quality, and delivery targets.
• Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for prototype board defects and hardware quality issues.
• Manage product roadmaps and subsystem delivery schedules for commercial and research projects.
• Provide Design for Manufacturability input and identify manufacturing risks before vendor production.
• Collaborate with quantum physicists, optical engineers, and hardware engineers to deliver hardware for instrument use cases.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 10+ years of hardware engineering experience, including hands-on work with PCB fabrication and contract electronics assembly vendors.
• 2+ years of experience managing engineers, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Experience leading complex hardware projects from design through manufacturing.
• Deep knowledge of PCB fabrication and assembly processes, capabilities, and common failure modes.
• Experience with root-cause and corrective-action processes in low-to-mid-volume, high-complexity hardware environments.

Nice to have

• Relationships with PCB fabrication houses or contract assembly shops in the Boulder area.
• Analog electronics design experience.
• RF electronics or software-defined radio experience.
• Experience with precision instruments, aerospace, photonics, or similar applications.
