Sr Optical Process Engineer (Quantum Computing)

Salary: $147,000–$197,000 annually

What you will do

• Develop tooling and processes for fiber array assemblies.
• Verify and validate fiber optic bonding processes.
• Design tooling and processes for active fiber optic assemblies used in quantum computer systems.
• Lead projects validating technologies, bonding methods, alignment methods, and tooling suppliers.
• Deliver production-ready optical assembly solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• At least 4 years of experience with fiber optic development, connectors, splicing, handling, and alignment processes.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or person granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.
• Experience with fiber optic assembly tooling, optical metrology, alignment algorithms, and fiber optic system testing is valued.

Nice to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. in optics, applied physics, or a related field.
• Experience with laser welding, micro-optics, photonic components, and optical system troubleshooting.
• Experience with UV-to-infrared wavelengths and engineering tool and process development.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers.
