Resident Engineer (Automotive Embedded Systems)

Location: Novi, Michigan, USA; office-based in Novi, MI. Domestic travel of up to 20% is required.

Salary: $125,250–$183,700 per year, with possible additional bonus or commission compensation.

What you will do

• Lead system-level hardware and software validation for compute-unit platforms and automotive embedded products.
• Plan and execute bench, vehicle, manual, automated, exploratory, regression, endurance, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Identify, analyze, verify, document, and track software defects using supporting logs, test data, and issue-tracking systems.
• Develop test strategies, plans, designs, and cases based on requirements, use cases, specifications, and known defects.
• Manage project risks, status reporting, customer communications, escalations, and coordination across engineering and program-management teams.
• Support test drives, maintain test benches and vehicles, and provide technical assistance for customer and interdepartmental issues.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in product engineering or hardware test engineering in an embedded environment.
• 2+ years leading projects or performing project-management activities and providing team direction.
• 5+ years of experience with functional and non-functional software testing, software test life cycles, and test design methodologies.
• 5+ years of vehicle networking experience with CAN and MOST.
• 3+ years of experience with hardware-in-the-loop development and use, bug tracking, configuration management tools such as Perforce, and office productivity software.
• Must be willing to work in the Novi, Michigan office, travel domestically up to 20%, complete a background investigation and drug screen, and maintain a clean driving record.
