Principal, Finance Data Governance & Strategy (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California or San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $215,000–$291,000 base pay annually in Mountain View, with potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own and scale Finance’s data governance and stewardship framework, including definitions, quality standards, ownership, decision rights, and access controls.
• Build and maintain an enterprise data map covering Finance sources, systems, flows, transformations, and lineage.
• Lead governance, mapping, reconciliation, ownership, lineage, and controls for ERP and planning platform modernization.
• Define the synthetic data strategy for testing, development, model training, and analytics, including fidelity and validation standards.
• Partner with Technology, Enterprise Data, Risk and Compliance, Legal, Security, Engineering, and AI/ML teams on data controls and reusable tooling.
• Represent Finance in enterprise data governance forums and own the roadmap for Finance data capability maturity.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data governance, data strategy, or data architecture, including 2–3 years at a principal or strategic level.
• Experience establishing or scaling data governance and stewardship programs.
• Experience governing data through a legacy-to-cloud platform migration, with emphasis on lineage, ownership, and controls.
• Experience with enterprise data maps, catalogs, and lineage tooling.
• Strong technical fluency with SQL and modern data warehouse environments such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar.
• Experience in a regulated or controls-sensitive environment; SOX or ICFR exposure is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with synthetic data generation and validation.
• Experience with Oracle ERP or EPM and Finance data models.
• Experience supporting Finance, Accounting, or FP&A in a large, matrixed enterprise.
• Exposure to AI/ML data readiness, data products, or federated data governance.
