Graduate Design Engineer, Structural Engineering (Mining)

Location: Duluth, Minnesota or Bloomington, Minnesota. Candidates must reside within regular commuting distance of one location. Hybrid arrangement with three days in the office and two days remotely; travel to offices, project sites, and client locations may reach 15%.

What you will do

• Assist with the analysis, design, and detailing of structural systems for mining and heavy industrial facilities.
• Develop plans, design calculations, specifications, and construction details for steel, concrete, and foundation systems.
• Support the design of processing equipment supports, material handling systems, platforms, buildings, and other industrial structures.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering teams on integrated plant and building systems.
• Assist with construction administration by reviewing submittals, interpreting plans, observing progress, and verifying work against project documents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with a structural emphasis.
• Up to three years of progressive structural design experience.
• Engineer-in-Training certification after completing or scheduling the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Proficiency with RISA 3D or RAM Structural System, MathCAD, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit, along with strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
• Ability to travel as needed, including for team meetings, client consultations, and site visits.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Working knowledge of structural steel, CMU, post-tensioned concrete, and cast-in-place concrete design.
• Experience conducting condition assessments of existing structures.
