Staff Software Engineer (Genomics)

Location: Remote within the United States

Base salary: $155,600–$233,400 per year, plus eligible bonus, commission, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, code, and maintain high-quality cloud-based applications with product owners and application developers.
• Align software architecture with user requirements while working in a Scrum team.
• Provide technical assistance for escalated production issues.
• Evaluate new software technologies for platform development.
• Provide technical leadership to an Agile team when required.
• Lead performance optimization involving memory management, parallelization, and algorithm efficiency.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 6 years with a master's degree, 3 years with a PhD, or equivalent experience.
• Strong proficiency in C++ or Rust, including language internals, performance optimization, and memory management.
• Experience with SaaS multitenant database architectures, RDBMS, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, and MongoDB.
• Strong understanding of SOA, web security architecture, REST APIs, event-driven architecture, and related architectural patterns.
• Proficiency with Git or SVN, configuration management, unit testing with mock objects, and object-oriented analysis and design.
• Experience delivering high-quality software through Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.

Nice to have

• Experience with AngularJS or KnockoutJS client-side MVC frameworks.
• Experience debugging complex issues with GDB, LLDB, perf, Valgrind, or equivalent tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, self-management, and collaboration skills.
