People Operations Manager

Location: Hybrid, based in New York City or San Francisco; in-person role

Salary: $120K–$165K plus 0.01%–0.3% equity

What you will do

• Own and improve the employee lifecycle from onboarding through offboarding, including promotions, role changes, leave, compensation updates, and exits.
• Design and manage performance review, compensation, and promotion cycles, including communications, documentation, calibration support, and completion tracking.
• Build scalable workflows, policies, manager resources, playbooks, and employee communications.
• Own HR systems, employee records, people data, reporting, dashboards, and operational metrics.
• Manage benefits administration and coordinate with the PEO, brokers, payroll providers, legal counsel, Finance, Recruiting, and Leadership.
• Use automation and AI tools to reduce manual work while supporting a high-trust, high-performance workplace.

Requirements

• Strong experience building and running onboarding, performance review, manager workflow, benefits, compliance, and documentation processes.
• Experience owning HR systems and workflows; Rippling or PEO experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong project management, written communication, analytical, and systems-oriented skills.
• Excellent judgment, discretion, emotional intelligence, and professionalism when handling sensitive employee matters.
• Practical builder mindset, comfort with ambiguity, ownership of outcomes, and a bias toward action.
• Ability to work in person from New York City or San Francisco.
