DevOps Staff Platform Engineer (Kubernetes/Terraform)

Location: Remote (Canada)

Salary: CAD 135,000–170,000 annually, plus bonus and meaningful equity.

A publicly listed Canadian fintech operating a financial platform across lending, payments, and wealth, with AI supporting decisioning, risk management, and platform operations.

What you will do

• Design and run sandboxed, reproducible, permissioned, and disposable execution environments for engineering agents.
• Build and own the MCP and tool-gateway layer for governed infrastructure access.
• Turn CI/CD into a deterministic validation loop with automated tests, policy checks, and schema validation.
• Operate multi-cloud Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitOps delivery with ArgoCD across multiple business lines.
• Modernize infrastructure, reduce platform drift, and embed security and compliance into the design.
• Develop autonomous remediation and improve deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, MTTR, and operational automation.

Requirements

• Deep production experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and a modern GitOps deployment stack.
• Production cloud experience in at least one major environment; AWS and OCI experience is advantageous.
• Daily practical use of coding and operations agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or equivalent.
• Strong judgment about where autonomy is appropriate, supported by experience operating real systems.
• Clear technical writing suitable for junior engineers and models.
• Must be based in Canada for the remote role.

Nice to have

• Experience building internal developer platforms, MCP servers, or agent tooling adopted by engineers.
• Experience with non-human identity, secrets architecture, or policy as code in regulated environments.
• Experience with large-scale re-platforming where legacy systems could not go down.
• Experience evaluating infrastructure agents.
