Senior Software Engineer, Add-Ons (Python/Django)

Salary: £66,000–£87,000 GBP per year

What you will do

• Deliver major features and architectural improvements across automated moderation pipelines, Reviewer tools, and DevHub.
• Build and operate reliable Add-ons application systems using Python/Django, MySQL, React/TypeScript, and asynchronous processing.
• Create observability systems, actionable metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and data-backed operational insights.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code practices, deployments, monitoring, and incident response.
• Establish engineering standards for testing, production readiness, documentation, recoverability, code review, and on-call operations.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, QA, engineers, and community contributors while mentoring peers and contributing through open development practices.

Requirements

• Location: Remote UK.
• Strong production experience with Python/Django and reliable software systems.
• Strong experience with CI/CD, declarative pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing, integration testing, and staged or progressive delivery.
• Strong understanding of observability, including metrics, logging, tracing, service-level objectives, and alerting.
• Experience with internal engineering tools or platforms, production debugging, operational practices, technical documentation, and unfamiliar codebases.
• Strong collaboration, communication, technical writing, knowledge-sharing, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code tooling, or policy-as-code.
• Experience with SLOs, error budgets, chaos engineering, disaster recovery testing, or production readiness reviews.
• Experience with trust and safety, automated moderation, abuse prevention, adversarial systems, or open-source contributions.
