Senior Corporate Counsel, Marketing

Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA; hybrid schedule with four in-office days per week, Monday–Thursday

Salary: $150,171.61–$181,034.70 per year

What you will do

• Provide legal counsel on marketing, advertising, communications, and consumer protection matters.
• Review and approve marketing materials for compliance with federal, state, and international regulations.
• Develop compliance strategies, conduct risk assessments, and propose practical solutions for business objectives.
• Lead colleagues performing initial reviews of marketing and external-facing materials.
• Manage escalations and collaborate with marketing, operational, and executive stakeholders.
• Maintain the claims library and advise on sweepstakes, contests, social media, testimonials, disclosures, and endorsements.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• At least 3 years of in-house legal experience; 7+ years of substantive law firm and/or in-house experience preferred.
• Experience advising in a regulated environment and expertise in marketing and advertising compliance.
• Experience with CAN-SPAM, CCPA, COPPA, GDPR, TCPA, FTC endorsement guidelines, and telemarketing sales rules.
• Must be in good standing with the Illinois State Bar.
• Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, project management, and independent judgment skills.
