UI Engineer (AI)

Location: Bethesda, MD, United States; U.S. citizenship required and Top Secret eligibility must be obtainable and maintainable

What you will do

• Develop accessible, responsive, production-ready interfaces for dashboards, search, filtering, drill-down, reporting, and data review.
• Build reusable UI components with modern JavaScript and TypeScript frameworks.
• Integrate front-end applications with REST APIs, backend services, and data platforms.
• Create interactive data visualizations, dashboards, charts, tables, filters, search, and drill-down workflows.
• Implement semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, focus management, responsive design, and automated UI tests.
• Collaborate with UX, software engineering, data engineering, data science, and AI/ML teams while applying security, privacy, accessibility, data governance, and records-management requirements.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience developing production front-end and UI applications.
• Proficiency with JavaScript and/or TypeScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
• Experience with reusable component design, state management, API integration, automated UI testing, data visualization, dashboards, filtering, drill-down, search, and reporting interfaces.
• Strong knowledge of accessibility standards, semantic markup, keyboard navigation, focus management, responsive design, web performance, and browser compatibility.
• Strong technical communication, documentation, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret eligibility required; active Top Secret clearance highly preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with Federal financial, grants, budget, payment, award oversight, or financial reporting systems.
• Experience with secure Federal, on-premises, cloud, or hybrid environments and Linux-based development or deployment.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Java, .NET, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Kubernetes, or Rancher.
• Experience integrating AI/ML or LLM capabilities and open-source AI models into web applications.
• Experience with WCAG and Section 508 compliance in production applications.
