Field Engineer — Field Operations (Nuclear)

Location: Must be based in the United States and work on-site at the headquarters in Austin, Texas. Travel to company facilities, vendor locations, construction sites, and test sites across the continental U.S. is required, including extended assignments and short-notice travel.

What you will do

• Plan and support installation, commissioning, testing, operation, maintenance, repair, and modification of mechanical equipment and integrated systems.
• Translate engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and design requirements into field-ready work plans, task sequences, tooling requirements, and instructions.
• Provide hands-on technical support to field personnel, craft workers, vendors, and project teams during field execution.
• Troubleshoot equipment, fabrication, alignment, fit-up, interface, and performance issues and resolve them safely at the point of execution.
• Support inspections, functional testing, performance verification, turnover, closeout, and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, licensing, construction, testing, and reactor operations while managing technical questions and field changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
• 10+ years of field engineering, installation, commissioning, or comparable hands-on hardware experience.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, GD&T callouts, weld symbols, schematics, specifications, and vendor documentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, engineering judgment, communication skills, and practical problem-solving ability.
• Valid driver’s license and an air-travel-compliant form of identification.
• U.S. citizenship or U.S. person status is required under 10 CFR Part 810; non-compliant foreign citizenships are not permitted.

Nice to have

• Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, or other high-reliability regulated industries.
• Hands-on experience with welding, machining, assembly, rigging, field inspection, or heavy equipment operation.
• Experience with commissioning, functional testing, turnover, configuration control, work-control processes, and as-built documentation.
