Director of Architecture (Life Sciences)

Location: Hybrid in Burlington, Massachusetts, in the Boston area, United States; moderate travel to client sites and industry events is required.

Salary: $190,000–$245,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead the architecture department, including line management, recruitment, development, resource planning, and utilization.
• Develop and execute the architectural group plan in alignment with business strategy.
• Oversee architectural delivery quality, project documents, peer reviews, procedures, codes, standards, schedules, and man-hour controls.
• Support pharmaceutical, biologics, and cell and gene therapy facility projects from programming and feasibility through detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
• Support pre-sales and business development activities, including proposals, scoping, resource allocation, client visits, and change control.
• Coordinate with other offices and disciplines while supporting selected projects as Lead Architect, subject matter expert, or Design Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited college.
• 15+ years of experience in a CGMP-regulated life sciences environment.
• Experience providing architectural consulting services and leading multiple life sciences projects.
• Strong understanding of architectural execution methodologies for CGMP life sciences facilities and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Registered Architectural licensure (RA) in the states of practice is required.
• Strong communication, documentation, organizational, leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills, with willingness to travel moderately.
