CDQI Nurse Specialist

What you will do

• Review selected inpatient records for inadequate, incomplete, or conflicting clinical documentation.
• Communicate with physicians and caregivers to clarify documentation and support appropriate reimbursement and clinical severity classification.
• Evaluate complications, comorbidities, severity of illness, risk of mortality, case mix index, secondary diagnoses, and procedure impact on DRG.
• Educate physicians and caregivers on clear, complete, and specific documentation throughout a patient’s stay.
• Submit and follow up on queries regarding missing, unclear, or conflicting health record information.
• Maintain production logs, complete follow-up reviews, protect confidential records, and meet quality and productivity metrics.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States for remote work.
• At least 3 years of Clinical Documentation Improvement experience.
• At least 3 years of clinical experience in an academic medical center.
• Registered Nurse license and Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• CCDS or CDIP certification required.
• Ability to pass a CDI skills competency assessment and work at least 15 hours per week.
