Director, Stem Cell Research (Cell Therapy)

Location: Boston, MA, United States; five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility

Salary: $197,400–$296,200 base salary per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus and annual equity awards.

What you will do

• Lead the stem cell research function within the Type 1 diabetes program.
• Direct molecular characterization of stem cell-derived islet manufacturing and discovery of novel biomarkers and associated assays.
• Align scientific direction and team efforts with program goals across early research and development projects.
• Coordinate collaborative research in a matrixed environment and advance discoveries to downstream collaborators.
• Lead a multidisciplinary drug-discovery team and deliver high-quality data packages for novel assets and assays.
• Mentor biologists, manage project timelines, resolve conflicts, and prepare and execute approved budgets.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline with 9+ years of relevant post-doctoral employment experience; or a master's degree with 12+ years; or a bachelor's degree with 15+ years.
• Advanced knowledge of relevant scientific disciplines and the drug development process.
• Deep working knowledge of fundamental biology principles and experience with cell therapy development.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate distinct functional groups across multiple projects and advance research discoveries.
• Strong scientific communication, interpersonal, teamwork, organizational, and project-management skills.
• Experience mentoring teams and maintaining high operational and ethical standards in a dynamic research environment.
