Senior Director Assistant General Counsel, Privacy

Location: Sleepy Hollow, NY or Cambridge, MA; 4 days per week on site

What you will do

• Provide primary legal support to the Digital & Technology function and other business areas on privacy, cybersecurity, and AI matters.
• Shape the legal framework for cyber risk strategy and advise senior management on U.S. and global cyber-related obligations.
• Lead privacy and cybersecurity incident response, including preparation, response, intake, tracking, and investigations.
• Assess privacy risks in innovative initiatives and develop controls, training, guidance, and compliance strategies.
• Support AI governance through use-case assessments and privacy-risk counseling.
• Develop globally aligned privacy, AI, cybersecurity, and data governance policies while monitoring regulatory developments and engaging with technology committees and Government Affairs.

Requirements

• JD degree and admission to practice law in New York State, or eligibility for registration as in-house counsel.
• At least 15 years of legal experience, including at least 10 years of directly relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of local and global privacy, cybersecurity, and AI laws.
• Familiarity with risk management frameworks and standards such as NIST.
• Exceptional oral, written, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal analysis into practical guidance.
• Biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or related life science experience is strongly preferred.
