Process Utilities Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)

What you will do

• Develop and implement project deliverables under the direction of an assigned mentor.
• Perform engineering calculations, including heat transfer and hydraulic pressure drop calculations.
• Prepare block and process flow diagrams, user requirements specifications, equipment lists, general arrangements, datasheets, utility summaries, and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
• Assist with conceptual designs for purified water, clean steam, compressed air, process gas, waste, clean-in-place, bulk chemical, and bulk cryogenic liquid systems.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, clients, contractors, and design team members.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical, chemical, bioprocess, or architectural engineering.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop actionable insights.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with multiple disciplines and external stakeholders.
• Eagerness to learn about the AEC industry and apply academic knowledge to real-world engineering applications.

Nice to have

• Progress toward registration for or completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Familiarity with computer-aided drafting, process modeling, and engineering calculation software.
• Knowledge of AEC industry regulations and standards.
• Prior internship or co-op experience in mechanical engineering, process utilities engineering, or a related field.
• Interest in the food and beverage or life sciences industry.
