Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection

Location: Reno, Nevada; candidates must reside within the listed Reno-area zip codes and service the assigned territory. This is a remote-field position combining work from home with required in-person property appointments using a mobile office or vehicle. Occasional travel outside the assigned territory may be required.

Salary: $63,089.65–$90,000 annually, plus potential incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess residential and commercial property damage.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Evaluate coverage, policy terms, regulations, and claim validity.
• Gather evidence, document findings, and prepare detailed claim reports.
• Collaborate with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders throughout the claims process.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits while providing professional customer service.

Requirements

• Strong investigative, analytical, organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret detailed policies, guidelines, and technical information.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical ability to walk, bend, kneel, lift, carry, climb ladders, traverse roofs, and crawl through tight spaces.
• Valid driver's license; successful completion of required training, licensing exams, motor vehicle record checks, and background checks.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, overtime, and irregular hours when business needs require.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, insurance, business, construction management, or a related field.
• Customer service experience and knowledge of property insurance and claim handling.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial construction, building materials, and water mitigation.
• Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents.
• Rope and harness safety training or willingness to complete it.
