Site Autonomy Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan — onsite. Weekend, early morning, evening, and holiday work may be required to align with site operating hours and project needs. Minimal travel of 0–10% is required.

Salary: $66,000–$80,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Support the operational autonomous vehicle fleet and help ensure safe, comfortable operation at the designated site.
• Coordinate vehicle upfits, fleet upgrades, hardware changes, preventative maintenance, and return-to-service activities.
• Debug and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, including wire harnesses and basic mechanical subsystems.
• Perform sensor calibration, data acquisition, feature testing, mapping asset maintenance, and autonomous operation testing.
• Configure and deploy autonomous technology on site while recording issues, resolutions, and escalation details.
• Communicate site issues and successes to the engineering team and drive resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or relevant comparable experience.
• Comfort working in computing environments, especially Linux, and experience with Git and GitHub or GitLab.
• Ability to read mechanical and/or electrical schematics and diagnose, debug, and modify related systems.
• Knowledge of wire harnesses and basic mechanical subsystems, with systems-level thinking and a safety-first approach.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for prolonged periods, climb ladders occasionally, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
