Senior Underwriter - Life Science (Life Science)

Location: Leeds preferred; Manchester or Birmingham also considered, UK. Hybrid working required.

What you will do

• Manage complex Life Science renewal business and take ownership of larger, higher-value accounts.
• Make commercially balanced underwriting decisions, negotiate profitable renewals, and support disciplined portfolio growth.
• Build broker relationships and act as a trusted underwriting partner.
• Serve as a technical referral point, coach and mentor less experienced underwriters, and share best practices.
• Support the Team Manager as a trusted deputy and participate in leadership and trading discussions.
• Help shape the Life Science proposition, portfolio strategy, performance, service, and broker experience.

Requirements

• Strong underwriting experience in Life Sciences, Property & Casualty, or Commercial Combined insurance.
• Strong technical underwriting capability and confidence handling complex commercial risks.
• Commercial awareness, sound judgement, and experience building broker relationships.
• Ability to influence, support, coach, and collaborate with others.
• Life Science underwriting experience is highly desirable, as is experience with larger commercial risks.
• CII qualifications, or willingness to work towards them, is desirable.
