Industrial Design Intern (3D Printing)

What you will do

• Help design new hardware products from initial concepts through production.
• Develop design concepts and communicate design intent through visual materials and high-quality CAD.
• Create prototypes ranging from quick mockups to refined cosmetic models.
• Test designs with users and incorporate findings into the design process.
• Refine the hardware user experience, including unboxing and maintenance.
• Collaborate with Product, UI Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing on balanced solutions and cosmetic validation.

Requirements

• Pursuing a university degree in Industrial Design; related design or engineering degrees may be considered.
• Strong aesthetic judgment, attention to detail, and effective hand-sketching skills.
• Capability in 3D CAD, KeyShot, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Comfort with a variety of prototyping methods.
• Experience with engineering and manufacturability constraints.
• Available for a full-time Winter/Spring 2027 internship from January through April, onsite in Somerville, Massachusetts.
