Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Based in the Vancouver or Kitchener offices, British Columbia, Canada

Salary: $216,000–$252,000 CAD per year base salary for exceptional talent based in British Columbia; bonus, equity, and benefits are excluded.

What you will do

• Define the 1–3 year roadmap and vision for Shared Services.
• Architect the decoupling of existing functionality into highly reusable services.
• Create clear architectural design documents and estimate technical resources for new projects.
• Own the execution of platformization projects and support delivery milestones.
• Develop well-tested features that improve engineering throughput and reduce defects.
• Serve as a technical expert, review designs, solve difficult engineering problems, and present completed work through internal demos.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a backend-focused software engineer delivering software systems and driving operational excellence.
• Deep experience architecting complex systems across multiple roles.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, debugging, and troubleshooting.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication, collaboration, agile development, and mentoring skills.
• Experience with Python backend systems and the listed Google Cloud Platform services, Redis, Elasticsearch, monitoring tools, and third-party integrations.
