TL;DR
Analyst II Medical Coder (Medical Coding): Supporting accurate, reproducible coding of clinical trial data and maintaining global thesauri, code lists, and dictionary encoding systems with an accent on regulatory compliance, coding quality, and cross-functional collaboration. Focus on executing end-to-end coding processes, resolving coding issues, improving reusable tools and processes, and contributing to clinical data coding standards.

Location: High Wycombe or Maidenhead, United Kingdom; Johannesburg, South Africa; or Prague, Czech Republic. Hybrid or remote work may be considered case by case with business approval. Less than 10% domestic or international travel may be required.

What you will do

  • Oversee and contribute to clinical data coding activities in line with regulatory and industry standards.
  • Execute end-to-end coding processes, including specifications, Terms of Interest, quality reviews, and sign-off activities.
  • Deliver consistent, accurate, and reproducible coding of clinical trial data within project timelines.
  • Maintain global thesauri, code lists, dictionary encoding products, systems, and related processes.
  • Address coding inquiries and data issues with cross-functional and cross-sectoral partners.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and reusable coding tools across studies and therapeutic areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience, preferably in Clinical Data Management, Health, or Computer Sciences.
  • Approximately 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, CRO, biotech, or related industry.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard coding thesauri, including MedDRA and WHODrug, with experience using dictionary encoding products and systems.
  • Experience working in a multifunctional environment and adapting to different ways of working.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree such as a Master’s or PhD.
  • Understanding of drug development, GCP, and ICH guidelines.
  • Experience designing and executing medical coding strategies.
  • Knowledge of advanced analytics, biostatistics, clinical operations, data privacy, database applications, or SOPs.
