Staff Software Engineer - Data Platform

Location: Mountain View, California, United States — hybrid, with 3 days per week onsite

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for data ingestion, processing, and storage.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to translate data requirements into reliable solutions.
• Implement data quality checks and maintain data integrity throughout the data lifecycle.
• Optimize pipeline performance, troubleshoot data issues, and provide timely resolutions.
• Document data architecture, processes, and workflows while supporting analytics initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance to junior team members and apply current data engineering best practices.

Requirements

• 9+ years of experience as a data engineer or in a similar role.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a master's degree is preferred.
• Strong experience with data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, SQL, and relational or NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with BigQuery, Spark, Kafka, DBT, SQLMesh, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques and frameworks.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools.
• Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
