Data Engineer

Location: Hybrid role based in Sterling, Virginia, United States, with an average of 1–2 days per week in the Sterling office.

Salary: $100,163–$186,295 USD per year

What you will do

• Build and maintain ETL pipelines supporting data ingestion, transformation, loading, querying, and end-to-end data usage.
• Work with complex structured and unstructured data sets, including cybersecurity and network security logs.
• Develop data extraction, custom translation, data preparation, and labeling workflows for analytics.
• Investigate and troubleshoot system, data-flow, and quality issues at scale.
• Participate in an agile software development lifecycle and collaborate with the development team.

Requirements

• Current active Top Secret clearance and SCI eligibility.
• DoD 8140/8570 compliance certification, such as Security+, or willingness to obtain it within 90 days of hire.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience with ETL pipelines, Python, Java, Linux, JSON, XML, configuration management tools, and agile development.
• Strong troubleshooting, testing, quality assurance, technical problem-solving, and data-flow investigation skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment with regular attendance at the Sterling, Virginia office.

Nice to have

• Seven years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes, cloud systems, AI/ML development, SQL, Trino, Kafka, NiFi, or SQS.
• Experience supporting cyber or network security operations and large-scale enterprise data platforms.
• Familiarity with Unified Platform, DoD Big Data Platform, JCWA systems, JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub Enterprise.
