Data Operations Engineer (Hybrid) - 30180

Location: Hybrid, with an average of 1–2 days per week at the San Antonio, TX office; U.S. citizenship and an active Secret-level U.S. Government Security Clearance are required.

Salary: $119,574–$165,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead customer engagement as the primary technical liaison, manage expectations, communicate technical roadmaps, and translate mission-specific data needs into engineering tasks.
• Help manage daily DataOps operations, accelerating data availability and reducing the latency from data identification to database availability.
• Oversee deployment and maintenance of data flows using standardized templates and engineering libraries.
• Tune cluster performance and monitor pipelines to maintain data health and minimize discovery latency.
• Drive the transition from reactive maintenance to a proactive, automated, adaptive, and self-healing operational model.
• Coordinate ecosystem-wide reuse of scripts and flow strategies, implement quality gates and schema validation, and troubleshoot distributed dataflow issues.

Requirements

• Active Secret-level U.S. Government Security Clearance and U.S. citizenship.
• At least 9 years of technical operations, systems engineering, or data management experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 7 years of relevant experience with a related Master’s degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent plus 13 years of relevant experience.
• Experience managing high-volume data flows and storage using distributed messaging queues, data orchestration engines, and cloud-native storage.
• Strong familiarity with enterprise observability platforms and log analysis tools.
• Deep understanding of network data, metadata fill rates, and JSON and XML log formats.
• Fluency managing extraction, translation, and loading processes for rapid analytics.
• Experience using SQL for data validation with technical teams and customers.
• Ability to use Python or Java to build shared libraries and automate repetitive tasks.
• Exceptional communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and translating mission requirements into technical specifications.
• Must obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of hire and work in a hybrid environment with flexibility for schedule changes.

Nice to have

• Current TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience in technical account management or customer-facing engineering.
• Experience with distributed data processing and cloud-native storage solutions.
• Experience supporting cyber or network security operations.
• Knowledge of automated Attribute Based Access Control or data masking in production pipelines.
