Data Operations Engineer (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid in San Antonio, Texas, with an average of 1–2 days per week in the office. U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret-level U.S. Government Security Clearance are required.

Salary: $119,574–$165,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead customer engagement as the primary technical liaison, translating mission-specific data needs into engineering tasks and technical roadmaps.
• Help manage daily DataOps operations, improving data availability and reducing discovery-to-database latency.
• Oversee deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning of data flows across distributed messaging, orchestration, and cloud environments.
• Drive the transition from reactive maintenance to proactive, automated, adaptive, and self-healing data operations.
• Implement automated quality gates and schema validation to protect data integrity before production release.
• Coordinate reusable scripts, flow strategies, and operational improvements across the data ecosystem.

Requirements

• Active Secret-level U.S. Government Security Clearance and U.S. Citizenship required.
• 9+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, 7 years with a related Master’s degree, or 13 years with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with high-volume data flows, distributed messaging queues, data orchestration engines, cloud-native storage, observability platforms, and log analysis.
• Knowledge of network data, metadata fill rates, JSON and XML logs, ETL processes, and SQL-based data validation.
• Ability to use Python or Java for scripting and automation, and to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Must be able to obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of hire and work in a hybrid schedule in San Antonio.

Nice to have

• Current TS/SCI clearance.
• Technical account management or customer-facing engineering experience.
• Experience with distributed data processing, cloud-native storage, cyber or network security operations.
• Knowledge of automated ABAC or data masking in production pipelines.
