Advisory Analytics Engineer (dbt/Tableau)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; requires periodic onsite visits to the private equity sponsors' office in San Francisco.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain consumption-ready dbt models across Mart, Conformed, and Rpt layers.
• Deliver governed Tableau dashboards and self-service analytics for Marketing, Revenue, Customer Success, Finance, and Product.
• Integrate Tableau Cloud with MetricFlow semantic layer definitions to maintain consistent company-wide metrics.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into model specifications and analytics products while serving as the primary analytics contact for assigned domains.
• Champion data quality through dbt tests, delivery SLAs, lineage documentation, and CI/CD workflows.
• Mentor junior and mid-level analysts and support self-service analytics enablement programs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, business intelligence, or a related data role.
• Production-grade dbt experience, including multi-layer models, macros, and shared packages.
• Expert Tableau skills and strong SQL fundamentals, including complex analytical queries, window functions, CTEs, aggregations, and performance optimization.
• Python proficiency for analytics, scripting, data wrangling, exploratory analysis, or custom dbt macros.
• Experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift, plus Git, branch-based development, CI/CD, data modeling, and automated testing.
• Strong communication skills and comfort using AI coding assistants and LLM-based tools in analytics workflows.

Nice to have

• Production experience with MetricFlow or the dbt Semantic Layer.
• Experience with demand or marketing funnel data, Salesforce, NetSuite, or SaaS revenue metrics such as ARR, churn, expansion, and NRR.
• Exposure to Dataplex, Fivetran, similar ELT and data cataloging tools, or next-generation self-service BI platforms.
