Senior Buyer (Power Infrastructure)

Location: Darlington, United Kingdom; office based with a minimum of fortnightly site visits

What you will do

• Own procurement activities for a nominated division or business unit across its projects.
• Negotiate and place material and plant orders, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
• Analyze quotations, manage costs and budgets, and identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
• Maintain procurement schedules, report costs and spend trends, and resolve invoice and commercial queries.
• Support tender and work-winning activities through procurement recommendations, specification reviews, and cost input.
• Manage supplier relationships, attend supplier and contract reviews, and mentor junior procurement team members.

Requirements

• CPSM qualification and MCIPS membership or progress toward MCIPS.
• Strong knowledge of procurement laws and standards, particularly in regulated or high-risk environments.
• Experience with procurement systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDA, Coupa, or similar.
• Experience in cost analysis, budget management, total cost of ownership, supplier relationship management, and contract negotiation.
• Experience with market research, trend forecasting, compliance, risk management, and procurement reporting.
• Ability to work from the Darlington office and undertake regular site visits.
