About the Role

You will own and continuously improve the market abuse surveillance and control framework across regulated trading activities. You will investigate suspicious orders and transactions, document defensible findings, decide whether to file STORs, and submit reports to the relevant regulator. You will translate MAR, MiFID II, MiFIR, and MiCAR requirements into practical policies, procedures, controls, tools, and surveillance logic. You will lead cross-functional initiatives involving surveillance system tuning, transaction-reporting quality, insider lists, new product reviews, market structure changes, and regulatory developments. You will prepare clear management information for senior decision-makers and represent the firm during regulatory inspections, information requests, and thematic reviews. You will operate independently as the internal expert on complex market abuse matters.

Requirements

• Have 6 or more years of relevant compliance, surveillance, or regulatory experience with a strong focus on market abuse in a MiFID II-regulated company
• Demonstrate deep practical knowledge of MAR, MiFID II, MiFIR, and related technical standards such as RTS 22 transaction reporting and insider-list requirements
• Possess hands-on experience running or overseeing trade surveillance systems
• Have experience leading market abuse investigations from alert to closure, including STOR decision-making
• Apply strong analytical and investigative skills to complex order-book, trade, and communications data
• Have experience contributing to or owning compliance policies, procedures, or surveillance logic
• Engage effectively with regulators and senior stakeholders under time pressure
• Produce clear, well-evidenced, and decision-ready investigation reports and management information
• Knowledge of MiCAR is desirable

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously improve the market abuse surveillance framework covering insider dealing, unlawful disclosure, and market manipulation
• Lead investigations into surveillance alerts and escalations
• Assess suspicious orders and transactions
• Document investigation findings and build defensible narratives
• Decide whether to file Suspicious Transaction and Order Reports and submit them to the relevant regulator
• Lead cross-functional projects such as surveillance system tuning, transaction-reporting quality reviews, and insider-list process redesign
• Design and improve market abuse policies, procedures, controls, tools, and surveillance alert logic
• Partner with Trading, Legal, Risk, and Product on new product reviews, market structure changes, and regulatory change projects
• Prepare management information and reports on market abuse risk for senior management, committees, and the Board
• Represent the firm in regulatory inspections, information requests, and thematic reviews involving market abuse
