Manager, Platform Engineering

Location: US - Remote

Salary: $136,600–$177,050 per year in the United States, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a team of software engineers, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, promotions, and career development.
• Own delivery, quality, operational readiness, and predictability for the team’s platform commitments.
• Translate product and engineering strategy into priorities, milestones, execution plans, and measurable outcomes.
• Manage capacity, risks, dependencies, tradeoffs, technical debt, and incident follow-up.
• Provide technical guidance on designs, implementation approaches, maintainability, scalability, and operational considerations.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, SRE, support, and senior leadership on strategy, decisions, resourcing, and execution.

Requirements

• Direct people management experience leading software engineers, including coaching, hiring, performance management, and team development.
• 3–5+ years leading complex, multi-system engineering initiatives, preferably in SaaS, cloud platforms, distributed systems, or enterprise software.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Technical depth in backend services, APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Experience delivering high-quality software through a team while balancing scope, schedule, reliability, quality, and operational supportability.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, including experience with planning, estimation, design reviews, incident response, observability, testing, and technical debt management.
