Robotics Engineer (Biotechnology)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; site-based and full-time onsite with no remote work. Only U.S. persons are eligible due to export control requirements.

Salary: $100,400–$160,700 per year, plus potential discretionary bonus, incentive compensation, or equity award.

What you will do

• Design, assemble, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and improve laboratory instruments, fixtures, prototypes, and automation-enabled research systems.
• Support mechanical, electrical, and mechatronic design, including component selection, wiring, panel layouts, sensor integration, and equipment modifications.
• Connect instruments, controls, sensors, software, and physical hardware into reliable experimental workflows.
• Develop experimental test plans, analyze results, document findings, and recommend improvements based on research objectives and system performance.
• Provide technical support to scientists, engineers, and project teams during design, commissioning, experimentation, and troubleshooting.
• Create technical documentation and mentor junior engineers and technical team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher and at least 2 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, automation, research engineering, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience building, testing, troubleshooting, improving, or maintaining electromechanical systems, prototypes, equipment, fixtures, or automated hardware.
• Working knowledge of sensors, actuators, motors, wiring, power distribution, controls, mechanical assemblies, CAD, or fabrication methods.
• Ability to solve moderately complex technical problems using data, engineering judgment, and practical evaluation of alternatives.
• Strong documentation, communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
• Must work full-time at hirify.global’s site in Cambridge, Massachusetts; remote work is not available. Must qualify as a U.S. person under U.S. export control laws.

Nice to have

• Experience with fabrication, prototyping, machining, 3D printing, wiring, soldering, panel assembly, or equipment repair.
• Experience with CAD tools, electrical schematics, PLCs, microcontrollers, motion systems, sensors, or data acquisition systems.
• Experience with laboratory instruments, research prototypes, experimental automation, or hardware development in biotechnology, pharmaceutical research, medical technology, or life sciences.
• Programming or scripting experience with Python, C#, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Arduino, or similar tools.
