Senior Engineer (Mathematical Modeling and Simulation)

What you will do

• Develop and deploy explicit and implicit finite element and numerical models for drug delivery devices and combination products.
• Apply structural, kinematic, material, tolerance, and robustness analysis to model device behavior during use, assembly, and transport.
• Improve model efficiency, lifecycle management, trustworthiness, and integration into engineering decision-making.
• Simulate complaints and real-world product issues to support root-cause investigations, design robustness, and complaint reduction.
• Own the in-silico modeling project backlog, communicate model scope and limitations, and mentor simulation specialists.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and scientific teams and document the technical basis of models.

Requirements

• Doctorate in engineering, or a master's degree with 2 years of engineering experience, a bachelor's degree with 4 years, an associate degree with 8 years, or a high school diploma/GED with 10 years of engineering experience.
• Experience with finite element modeling using platforms such as SIMULIA, ANSYS, ALTAIR, or COMSOL.
• Experience with explicit FEM, nonlinear structural modeling, contact modeling, large deformations, plasticity, and hyperelasticity.
• Knowledge of statistical and robustness analysis, material characterization, and device or process variability.
• Programming experience with Python and/or MATLAB; experience with Abaqus user subroutines or Tcl/Tk is relevant.
• Strong communication, presentation, technical documentation, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Experience with combination products, medical device development, design controls, regulatory requirements, and process controls.
