Senior Engineer, Emerging Device Technology (Drug Delivery)

Location: North Chicago, Illinois; South San Francisco or Irvine, United States; or Germany. Travel required as necessary, approximately 10–20%.

Salary: $96,500–$183,500 per year.

What you will do

• Identify patient, clinical, and business needs and translate them into delivery system requirements.
• Evaluate autoinjectors, patch pumps, continuous infusion systems, connected delivery ecosystems, and other emerging technologies.
• Develop technology landscapes and compare solutions by feasibility, strategic fit, scalability, and portfolio value.
• Define feasibility assessment needs, critical performance attributes, development risks, timelines, budgets, and RFP inputs.
• Assess scalable platform opportunities across multiple pipeline assets and support progression decisions.
• Communicate recommendations and trade-offs across CMC, asset, commercial, technical, and external partner teams.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline.
• 12 years of experience with a BS, or 8 years with an MS or MBA, including 3–8 years in medical devices and drug delivery.
• Experience spanning feasibility, design, development, verification, and validation.
• Strong working knowledge of design control, combination product and device development, medical devices, and relevant regulations and standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work from one of the listed United States or Germany locations and travel 10–20% as required.
